Overview
Watch the moment the journey breaks
A page can look finished in a design review and still leave a visitor searching for the price, tapping an element that is not a button, or giving up halfway through a form. Hotjar can make those moments visible through recordings, heatmaps, and direct feedback. The point is to understand the obstacle, not to collect clips of unusual behavior.
We use behavioral evidence to challenge assumptions about how people read and move through a site. What seemed obvious to the team may not be obvious to the customer encountering the page for the first time.
What We Do With it
Turn friction into a useful change
We select important journeys to study, review recurring patterns, and pair observations with page goals and analytics. That can lead to a clearer information order, a shorter form, a more precise call to action, or an explanation placed where the question actually arises. We can also use focused feedback prompts to hear what a visitor was trying to find. The deliverable is a prioritized set of changes grounded in repeated evidence rather than one memorable recording.
How We Use It
Observe, ask, and verify
We set the scope around pages where the business needs a decision: a service page, an application, a checkout, or a contact flow. We review recordings and heatmaps across devices, note repeated hesitations, and ask whether the page content or the interaction is responsible. Privacy settings and consent are part of the setup.
A recording cannot tell us what someone was thinking. We check our interpretation against other sessions, direct feedback, and the outcome data. Then we change the experience and watch whether the obstacle actually becomes less common.
